This concert features music of the Maestro's past and future. The orchestra will perform Mahler's abstract yer entertaining Symphony #1, which was Maestro Giunta's audition piece for our symphony. Wagner's dramatic Rienzi Overture was on his first program book as music director of the Des Moines Symphony twenty years ago. Take awalk down memory lane as Maestro Giunta and the orchestra bring new perspectives adn insights to these engagin pieces. Melding the past with the future of the symphony, we look forward to the world-premiere of our commissioned piece, Heartland Poem.
