This conert features music of the Maestro's past and future. The orchestra will perform Mahler's abstract yet entertaining Symphony #1, which was Maestro Giunta's audtion piece for our symphony. Wagner's dramatic Rienzi Overture was on his frist program book as music director of the Des Moines Symphony twenty years ago. Take a walk down memory lane as Maestro Giunta and the orchestra bring new perspectives and insights to these engaging pieces. Melding the past with the future of the symphony, we look forward to the world-premiere of our commissioned piece, Heartland Poem.
