Music Theory & Ear Training

This course is geared for teenagers and adults who wish to expand their knowledge of music fundamentals. Although basic music reading skills are the only requisite, participants will graduate with working knowledge for the mechanics of music. Designed with a progressive yearlong approach, theory students examine musical concepts, including music notation, clefs, intervals, scales, key signatures, chords, rhythmic values and time signatures. Students learn the principles of music; melody, harmony and rhythm. Concepts are reinforced through written and aural exercises. Whether you plan to pursue music in college or simply seek to enhance your current musical abilities, this class will provide an excellent foundation.
