Des Moines Symphony Academy

Individual instruction from experienced professional musicians is available to students of all ages and abilities, from as early as three years of age (depending on the instrument) through adulthood. Instruction is offered on a variety of instrument: violin, viola, cello, bass, harp, guitar, piano, flute bassoon and voice.

Suzuki method instruction is available on violin and cello. Through private lessons, students learn techniques and repertoire to advance their playing abilities. Lessons with an expert on the instrument are an essential component f music education for any student. Many faculty members hold advanced degrees and are active performers and teachers.

Price: $26.50 per 30 minute lesson.

Recitals and Performance Opportunities

Each year, students enrolled in private lessons perform in a studio recital. Teachers will help students choose repertoire and prepare for the recital. In addition, the Academy offers many performance opportunities to students through a variety of partnerships in the Des Moines area. Student and faculty groups are also available to provide music at special events.
